Glutathione
Glutathione (GSH) is the most abundant endogenous low-molecular-weight thiol in mammalian cells, a tripeptide with the sequence Glu-Cys-Gly (CAS 70-18-8). It is the primary cofactor for glutathione peroxidase-driven ROS detoxification, a substrate for glutathione S-transferases in phase II xenobiotic metabolism, and a regenerator of ascorbate via the glutathione-ascorbate redox cycle. Research applications include cellular redox manipulation, oxidative stress assays, and thiol-disulfide exchange studies in protein chemistry. For laboratory research use only.
